Stuck?! Sketches! DT layout for 1st March - Memories

Welcome back to my blog today where I'm sharing a DT page for

I chose to scrap these three scallywags, using some paper that I've been saving just for them.  It's from Simple Stories, Posh, "I love life", the reverse side and
"Simply amazing" also the reverse side.
Often the reverse is more appealing to me than the side on display in the rack.
Simple Stories have such interesting ranges for the boys in my life.

I've fallen in love with the fabric embellishments from Charms Creations and may have bought one or two of their goodies.  Love the look of their denim star on this photo.
The enamel dots are from Ruby Rock-it.
The light bulb is also old stash from Prima, junkyard findings.
The bold title is from Scrapmatts.
The little wish bone is very old stash by Tim Holtz - I painted it gold.
Some more old stash used to embellish were the card stock clouds and the orange star.
They are from Simple Stories - Urban traveller

The journalling is on circle, but is a little difficult to read.
If you are interested, this is what it says.

You had all come for a sleepover during the school holidays and I was keen to get a few photos.  Two out of three of you are not so keen; it takes up valuable playing time and is far too boring.   Heaven forbid that little boys should be bored in the holidays!  I vividly recall telling my dear Mother I was bored one Summer holiday and I was quickly dispatched out to the garden for the rest of the afternoon, to weed the vegetable patch.  Strangely enough, I was never, ever, bored again in the holidays!

  1. Must say, you ended up with photos of your grandsons that are truly treasures! Your pages always amaze me, Helen--lots of elements & beautiful details that never detract from the photos! Really love the arrows paper, denim star, wishbone & light bulb! The journaling done in the circle is just wonderful--you're a great writer, too!

  2. Hahaaa to the 'bored' story!!!! I would find this sketch a big challenge. Of course, your page is AMAZING! Love the way each photo is sort of 'mini embellished '.... almost like project life! Very neat! And that Charms star.... yummy!!!!!

  3. Three little scallywags indeed .. you can see the mischief in their eyes .. love those photos. And, of course, you have scrapped them perfectly. Have to agree that sometimes the reverse side of papers is way more appealing and I really love these. Love each individually scrapped circle and they all go together so beautifully on your page Helen!! Brilliant as always! As you know, I will be away for a while. Catch up again when I get back!! hugs xx

  4. you have used this sketch perfectly to showcase your 'scallywags'!! great photos, love the embellies, and I love Charms Hearts too.. so good to pop on a layout... and yes I have at times liked the reverse of the paper too, it is all about what grabs us at the time I guess...

  5. Amazing layout Helen, love your embellishing and sweet pics!

  6. You have nailed the sketch, a lovely page of your boys . Love the embellishments especially the light bulb. Always love your journalling , you have a knack for it

  7. Gorgeous layout Helen! Love the sweet photos! So precious! The papers are so fresh and fun!

  8. You really make these sketches come to life. Whenever I finally get around to scrapbooking, I will refer to your gorgeous designs! Love how you put a different child in each circle and then added text for the fourth. You're amazing! Hugs, Autumn

  9. Such a cutie and super page of these gorgeous little fella's! They sure add colour to our lives...."little boys and frogs in their pockets" ;-)

  10. How special to have all 3 sleepover and good on the boys for letting grannie take their photo. You have 3 handsome little grandies. Do they love to see themselves on your pages? This is another standout page Helen.... perfect papers and I love that each one has their own little embellishments. YOu rocked the sketch. xx

  11. Well that made me laugh out loud. I often think how clever you are to get such lovely pics of your lot. I can't get mine to even look at me never mind get a half decent photo :O Now I am reduced to discreet shots. THEN they want to see the photos and when I tell them I don't have any they want to pose... while Spence shouts CHEEEESE! Delightful they are all the same. They are growing into beautiful boys and I am sure they love their time with you. This is a wonderful sketch and I love how you managed to pull it all together. Quite hard when it is four separate elements. Stunning.
